Next Las Vegas Raiders Head Coach

Ben Johnson

Current position: Detriot Lions OC

Johnson is a sought-after name and it would be foolish if the Raiders did not interview him for the HC position. The Detroit Lions and Jared Goff have become one of the better offenses in the past 2 seasons, that is no small part due to the work of offensive coordinator Ben Johnson. The Lions offense averaged 25.0 points per game which ranks them eighth in the NFL when it comes to points scored. The 37-year-old has already been on the radar for a number of teams when it comes to head coaching positions and was interviewed by the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans in the offseason. Expect him to be on Mark Davies list come the off-season.

Frank Smith

Current position: Miami Dolphins OC

Smith has worked for the Raiders before as a tight ends coach between 2018 and 2020, and now could be his opportunity to return as HC bringing with him some much needed creativity and consistency to a struggling Raiders offense. Frank Smith has been a pivotal addition to Mike McDaniel’s success down in Miami. Over the past two seasons, the Dolphins have turned into one of the most watched teams in the NFL and are currently on course to being a top 10 offensive unit in back-to-back seasons.  All this has been under the watchful eye of Smith who in parallel to getting the offense high scoring has helped bring the belief back to quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

Jim Harbaugh

Current position: Michigan Wolverines HC

Harbaugh’s name has been touted much in the last few HC hiring cycles for the Raiders. Nothing before has ever materialized but Jim becoming more and more frustrated with the NCAA at Michigan and Davis affinity toward Harbaugh, I would expect him to be on the list.  Harbaugh’s record as a HC speaks for itself, 44-19-1 during a four-year span as the San Francisco 49ers’ head coach, and Michigan is on course to have their best chance at securing the natty, so the timing might be right for him to head back to the NFL and finally join the Raiders.

Brian Callahan

Current position: Cincinnati Bengals OC

Brian Callahan connections to the Raiders are strong, his father, Bill, had a two-year stint as the organization’s head coach in 2002 and 2003. Brian himself was quarterbacks coach in 2018 before moving to Cincinnati to take over the Bengals’ offensive coordinator job. He has experience working with a young quarterback in Joe Burrow since 2020. Callahan’s offenses ranked seventh in both 2021 and 2022. Might not be a popular choice but with a generational QB to be drafted he may be the person to get this offense firing again.

Dan Quinn

Current position: Dallas Cowboys DC

Seen as a safe choice, a steady hand after years of ups and downs for this Raider organization. Quinn may be remembered for letting a 28-3 lead slip in a Super Bowl to the patriots, but people need to remember he built a team capable of competing for a Super Bowl and two playoff runs. Quinn elected to return to Dallas after interviewing for several top jobs last offseason, and there’s a real chance he’ll be highly sought after again this off season. The Raiders have some great pieces, one of the best stadiums along with fans, drafting his own QB and a good amount of cap space to make some much needed additions.

Our Choice for next Las Vegas Raider Head Coach

After so many ups and downs these past 5 years and in general these past 20 years, I feel a steady hand is what is needed for the Raiders next so my choice would be Dan Quinn. We can finally have a top defense, he can pick his QB and with the addition of a creative OC he has all the weapons on offense he needs to challenge for a Super Bowl.
